We went to Buffalo, all our luggage was already in the car, ready to go on.
We visited the Buffalo Museum of science with its CSI: The experience exhibition.
It was really interesting to solve a crime on your own. The human body exhibition was the best I have ever seen.
After the museum we went downtown, took some pictures. But all in all Buffalo was definitely not our favorite city, so we decided to move on.
We decided not to take any highways freeways or interstates and to drive through all these little villages and towns in direction to our destination for this evening: Bath, 20 miles from Corning, located in the finger lakes region. We arrived in Bath in the evening, the next 2 nights we stayed in a Motel-8 which was really nice and cheap.
On the 17th of March we went to the Watkins Glen state park and took a few miles hike through the gorge.
We always had the GPS device along with some geocaching information with us :)
We visited a small winery, tasted a few wines and finally bought one.
We made our way to one of the lakes and looked for some geocaches in the evening.
Daniel at one of the finger lakes (I don't remember which one)
A micro geocache was hidden on that tank
On the 18th of March we went to the hot glass museum in Corning, it is really amazing what you can to with molten glass. This mouse you can see in the picture was made right in front of our eyes in about 10 minutes... only from 2 sticks of ordinary glass.
We went on to Scranton, the electric city... well actually there is not much to see in Scranton, but we thought NYC is still too far away so we have to stop in Scranton
We used our approved technique to use only small roads to go from Buffalo to Bath, to Corning, to Scranton. Shortest way Buffalo to Scranton was about 3 1/2 hours, ours was about 10 hours, but there was a lot more to see.
We saw that scenic overview when we were driving a lonesome road, so we stopped and took a few pictures.
On the 19th of March we visited a treehouse in Scranton, right above a gorge. It was a small hike this day, just looking around what to see in a town where the waitress who lives there for 10 years answered the question what to do in Scranton with... "in Scranton... the treehouse, I don't know anything else"
We walked around a little while, just for like 2 hours, then we went on to one of our main destinations... New York City
